MHS Receives the High School Sustainable Champion Award 2026

Metuchen High School has been named the 2026 Sustainability Champion in the high school category by Sustainable Jersey for Schools. The award recognizes the school for earning the highest number of certification points among high schools certified through the program in 2026.

Senior Samuel Brown, Ms. Kato, Mr. Porowski, and Dr. Caputo accepted the award at the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Annual Awards Luncheon during the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Workshop 2026 in Atlantic City.

Sustainable Jersey Executive Director Randall Solomon said, “This year’s award winners show what’s possible when communities make sustainability a priority. We congratulate them on their achievements and thank them for setting an example for schools across New Jersey.”

Metuchen High School has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as the Tree Ambassadors Program, the Anti-Idling Campaign, the Food Waste Audit, and the Share Tables Program.

These initiatives provide students with opportunities to apply their knowledge, take leadership roles, and help shape a more sustainable future.
