Mrs. Suzy Azevedo was appointed as Principal of Edgar Middle School in September 2020. Prior to that she served as Supervisor of Guidance since 2015. 

Before coming to the Metuchen School District, she worked in the Newark Public Schools for 19 years. She started as a Middle School Math teacher of eight years at Wilson Avenue School. After finishing her Masters, she moved on to become the Guidance Counselor at Lafayette Street School, a preK-8 school. After five years, she was chosen to become the Supervisor of Guidance at East Side High School and also served as a counselor at the high school level. In addition, she has experience as a Coordinator, specifically the Talent Development program at East Side High School, that services students considered seriously at-risk. Her final position in Newark was Teacher Coach of College and Career Readiness at East Side High School. 

Mrs. Azevedo earned her BS in Education at Seton Hall University and her Masters Degree from Montclair State University in Counseling. She earned her Certificate in Supervision from Kean University and her Principal Certificate through NJEXCEL. She lives in Readington with her husband and two children.
