Mission statement, procedures, and general information
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Edgar School Library Media Center is to support the school curriculum, to encourage a lifelong love of reading, and to assist students in becoming locaters, evaluators, and ethical users of information.
Library Assistant: Mrs. Oliver (in library: 8:00-9:00, 11:00-12:30, 1:30-2:30)
Hours:
Monday - Friday 7:45 - 2:40
Wednesdays: the library is closed to drop-in students during the school day because of library cycle classes. We reopen at 1:30.
Procedure for visiting the library:
students coming from a class must have a pass, and show it library staff on arrival
students excused from gym must sign in at circulation desk when they arrive
students who wish to visit the library at lunch must stop at the library on the way to lunch to get a pass.
Circulation:
6th, 7th, and 8th grade students may check out up to 3 books.
5th grade students may check out one book at a time; the maximum may increase as the year goes on if students return books on time. Parents who wish an exception to this policy for their child may submit this form to library staff.
Check out is for 3 weeks.
There is a 5 cent fine per school day for late books (up to $1.00 per book).
Students may not check out books if they have overdue books or owe fines.
