NUMEROUS COLLEGES PREPARE TO OFFER OPTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF STANDARDIZED TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS
Students and parents preparing to enter the college admission application process this fall are alerted to the fact that many colleges are offering new options for standardized testing requirements. For example, New York University recently announced the following options for students: 1) SAT test and two SAT II tests, or 2) ACT test, or 3) SAT test and two AP exam scores, or 4) three SAT II scores in non-language tests (one in literature or the humanities, one in math or science, and one of the student’s choice). Please be sure to review this requirement with prospective college admissions officers and discuss with your counselor.

Student athletes planning to enroll in college for the Fall of 2012 should register and enroll at a new web address at www.eligibilitycenter.org . Student athletes who previously registered are required to log into their existing account at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net to verify the email address of their account and select a new password. Information from the prior account will carry over to the new account automatically at that time. Once account information is updated, all information will be accessed and maintained at www.eligibilitycenter.com and the old web site will no longer be needed. Transcript Release forms will no longer be required at the Eligibility Center and will be handled by the high school. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please call 732-321-8750.

NEW SCORE REPORTING OPTION FOR SAT I, SAT II, AND AP EXAMS ANNOUNCED BY COLLEGE BOARD
As of March 2009, the College Board has announced new score reporting options for college bound students. Students will now be able to select and send the SAT I, SAT II and AP exam scores that they feel best represent their abilities to colleges and universities (instead of having to send every score, which was previously required). A student may now send one, multiple, or all test scores to a college on a single score report. Once a particular test date is identified and selected by a student, all scores from that test date (Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing sections) will be sent. Scores of individual sections from different sittings cannot be selected independently for scoring unless all test administrations involved are reported. As a result of the new options, MHS will no longer report SAT scores on the student transcript. Students and parents should confer with their individual counselors for further information or refer to www.collegeboard.com .

SAT and ACT Test Dates for the 2011-2012 Academic Year
Registration deadlines for SAT and ACT test administrations are currently provided on the Guidance Calendar of the website. All dates are listed for the upcoming academic year. Please note that the SAT is administered at MHS only in November, March, and May. The ACT will be administered at MHS this year. The ACT will be administered at MHS in December and April. The test center code for the ACT is 235740. Also note that the September ACT deadlines are in August. SAT deadlines for the October exam are September 9 (Regular Registration) and Late Registration is September 21. Please register at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org. If you have any questions, please call the guidance office at (732) 321-8750.
