Rick Cohen, Assistant Superintendent, presented the 8 Year STEM Plan at the July 17, 2018 Board of Education meeting.
Homework is recognized as an appropriate and valid academic activity when it is assigned within appropriate pedagogical guidelines that recognize the needs of the whole child. Homework is considered any assignment that is to be completed by students outside of the normal class schedule.

GREATER MIDDLESEX CONFERENCE
Molly Malague, Metuchen, So.
Just a sophomore, Malague has done for double figures in every game for Metuchen this season and was stellar again this week. Highlighted by a season-best 36 points in Metuchen's 65-41 win over Carteret, Malague also went for 18 points in a 51-31 win over Highland Park and had 19 points and nine rebounds in a 53-40 triumph against Colonia.

Malague is averaging a staggering 18.9 points per game this year.

The Metuchen High School girls basketball team's lead over Spotswood on Friday night never really felt seriously threatened, but the Chargers at least made it competitive after it looked like Metuchen was headed for an easy win.
Sam Antin tallied 16 points with eight rebounds to lead Metuchen to a 59-54 win over Spotswood in Metuchen.
Junior Luke Schleck poured in 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Metuchen to a 59-50 win over Middlesex in Metuchen.
Sophomore Molly Malague led all scorers with a game high 28 points along with 10 rebounds for a double-double while junior teammate Chase Klavon added 17 points, 6 steals, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds to lead Metuchen to a 63-44 opening night GMC Blue girls basketball victory over Carteret.
The Edison Township ice hockey team defeated South Brunswick on Friday for the first time in 15 years. On Wednesday afternoon, Edison did it again.
A year after winning just one game, to Edison-JP Stevens-Metuchen tri-op is off to its first 3-0 start in program history and DeVito has played a key role.
Evan Robbins’ Breaking the Chain Through Education nonprofit has come full circle: The educator started down a path toward its founding after reading a newspaper article about slave labor in the Ghanaian fishing industry. Now he’s finding himself in the press.
In an effort to become more inclusive, a program for the 18- to 21-year-old group will begin in the new school year at Metuchen High School.
These are challenging times for educators. School funding across the state and the nation continues to be a hot-button topic. Meanwhile our teachers need resources and our students always deserve the best possible education.
A good relationship takes time to build, and along the way, trust is formed, collaboration grows, and the collective does better. The same holds true when district leaders, unions/associations, and school boards work together...
